Atlin is a small gold-digging settlement situated in the Northwest of Canada’s British Columbia. During the 1920s, the settlement became known as “Little Switzerland of the North” due to its mountainous surroundings, gaining a reputation as an exotic holiday destination.

Before that, the Atlin Gold Rush made Atlin one of the most profitable regions amidst the big Klondike Gold Rush. The Atlin region was already inhabited by mainland Tlingit peoples long before the arrival of explorers and gold prospectors.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 9:30 and will make our way on Alaska Highway moving southeastwards. We will ride along the source of Yukon RiverMarsh Lake, being Yukon River’s widening, four kilometres in width and having lent his name to the whole territory. We will make a small stop at Marsh Lake to enjoy a fabulous view at its sandy beach.

We will continue our trip to Jakes Corner, taking us to Little Atlin Lake and heading south towards Atlin. Atlin Road is an impressive road running along small lakes, mountain ranges and the vast Atlin Lake. The view along the way is just breathtaking and, as you will be able to attest, Atlin gained the nickname “Little Switzerland of the North” for a good reason.

Once we arrive in Atlin, we will have a closer look at the historic gold mining village and the ‘MV Tarahne’ and will learn a good deal about the village’s captivating history. We will then take a visit to Atlin’s small museum before taking some steps in the fine sand of Atlin Lake’s shore. On days when visibility is right, we will even be able to gaze at Llewellyn Glacier across the other side of the lake. We will finish the tour with the visit of a small, beautifully situated waterfall.

If one wishes, a helicopter flight can be booked at this point. It will take passengers over the magnificent area around Llewellyn Glacier for an incomparable view.

During the trip, we will entertain you with beverages and snacks. You will also be able to enjoy a tasty lunch in Atlin. As our journey ends, you will arrive back to your hotel in Whitehorse at around 5:30 p.m.
