Skagway Explorer

Day-Trip to Skagway in a comfortable minibus or SUV (group size 3-12 guests). Follow the exciting footsteps of the Klondike Gold Rush featuring Emerald Lake, Carcross and White Pass & Yukon Railroad.

Our day trip to Skagway is an unmissable experience for all guests wishing to get to know the beautiful south of Yukon, the White Pass and its unique sceneries and Skagway, the coast and gold town in Alaska during a short journey.

On route to Skagway, we will make a stop at the glossy green Emerald Lake. Its water surface is saturated in intense colours caused by the deposited sediments. After we set foot to the Carcross Desert, the world’s smallest desert, feeling its fine sand, we pay a visit to the small settlement Carcross, where we will be able to learn more about First Nations’ history and explore the settlement’s restaurants, cafes and art shops.

As we travel on South Klondike Highway, several opportunities to view the majestic mountains and landscapes offer themselves. At several stops, you will have the chance to photograph and film the scenery, and soon you will realize that White Pass and its exceptional landscape draw you in like it has drawn in many a person before.

Skagway, once the point of departure for most gold prospectors during the big Klondike Gold Rush, is a colourful medley during summer when guests from all around the world stroll around its numerous restaurants, souvenir shops and jewellers.
We will explore this thrilling town up close, not merely travel the trodden paths but serene places like a gorgeous waterfall. Both on the way in and out of Skagway there is a chance we will encounter the wildlife of the region, such as black bears, grizzlies, moose and other animals.

We will pick you up at your hotel at 9:00 a.m. and travel on Alaska Highway and the winding South Klondike Highway towards Carcross and Skagway. In Carcross and Skagway, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy a tasty lunch.

We will take you back to your hotel in Whitehorse at around 6:00 p.m.

Yukon Gold - Emerald Lake & Carcross

Pan for gold, explore Miles Canyon, visit the world's smallest desert, look in awe at the stunning Emerald Lake and learn the true history of the Klondike Gold Rush. For a short trip, you sure get to see a lot on this Epic road trip!

Gold! This one word roared across North America in 1896, as hundreds of thousands rushed to the Klondike with dreams of striking it rich. Now over a century later, that passion lives on, as visitors from across the globe continue to trace the footsteps of the world’s greatest Gold Rush. Pan for gold, explore Miles Canyon, and learn the true history of the Klondike Gold Rush. With lakes, beaches, the World’s Smallest Desert and the small First Nations community of Carcross along the way, the Yukon Gold Experience shows the true breadth the North has to offer.

We begin our journey at 10:00 am from the hotel, after our first stop at Miles Canyon we head on down to Emerald Lake, so named for its breathtaking, shimmering green waters. From there we’ll take a trip to see Carcross Desert, the smallest desert on earth before visiting the Indigenous community of Carcross itself. Explore the local First Nations art and history, relax in their local cafes, or stroll down the sandy shores of Bennett Lake. It was here that many stories of the Gold Rush began, as the prospective prospector started their journey paddling to the Klondike.

Our final stop before we return to Whitehorse brings us to the ultimate goal of every gold-rusher: finding gold. After a quick lesson on gold-panning, you’ll be digging up deposits in no time. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to pet husky puppies, take photos with Gold Rush-style displays, and visit the Wildlife museum, filled with life-sized displays of Yukon wildlife, including a Woolly Mammoth. We then conclude the day by returning you back to your Whitehorse hotel at about 3:30 pm.

Our exclusive day trip to Haines Junction and Kluane National Park is a terrific opportunity to see one of Canada’s most beautiful National Parks first-hand. It’s also a thrilling insight into the region’s history before Westerners discovered it and before it attracted significant interest during the time of the Klondike Gold Rush.

On our trip on the Alaska Highway towards Kluane National Park, we will catch our first, awe-inspiring view on the magnificent mountains of the park. We might also encounter bears, deer and other wild animals at the edge of the road or the mostly grassy shoulder of the way, so pay proper attention and keep your camera ready for anything that might cross our path. With countless photographic opportunities to come, make sure you have your camera with enough memory space with you for the trip.

In Haines Junction, we will pay a visit to one of the prettiest visitor centres of Canada and will hear a lot about the First Nations, the National Park and the largest non-polar ice field in the world situated within the park.
After that, we go for a drive up to Sheep Mountain along the border of Kluane National Park, enjoying its serenity and view stunning view to the mountains.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. and travel towards Haines Junction and Kluane National Park on Alaska Highway. We will make a stop at the bakery in Haines Junction to get some lunch, before continuing on our road trip. Northern Lights Viewing Tour

Northern Lights Viewing Tour

Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights Viewing Tour at our heated facility outside of town. Experience the Northern Lights!

The Premium Northern Lights Tour Experience

The air is as fresh as the night sky is dark. The noise of the city sits far behind you. It’s quiet. It’s peaceful. And then, before you know it, the shimmering shades of green, blue and red begin their dance across the sky. This is no fireworks show; it’s the Aurora Borealis – the most breathtaking natural spectacle in the North.

On our Northern Lights Viewing Tour, we combine premium comfort with the full Aurora Viewing experience. Together we’ll enjoy snacks, hot drinks, and even roast marshmallows over a campfire, all in our authentic, heated northern Wall Tent outside the city.

Over the course of this quiet, private evening with your small group of up to 20 guests, we’ll also share information about the Northern lights with you. In addition, to help you capture this incomparable northern beauty, we’ll give you tips on aurora photography, as well as provide tripods.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Downtown Whitehorse at 10:00 PM. From there, we’ll drive for about 25 minutes to the heated Aurora Borealis Viewing facilities outside of town. Afterwards, we will return you to your accommodations at around 2:30 AM.

Notice

While the northern lights are always in the night sky, their intensity depends on solar activity. Clear skies are also necessary to catch a perfect view of the mystical aurora borealis.

We will always strive to ensure our customers have the best possible experience, but unfortunately, we have no power over the weather. Thus, we cannot always guarantee a successful sighting of the Northern Lights.

Despite climate change, temperatures in the Canadian North can drop to -30C and colder. Wear adequate clothing (layers) and make sure to protect the uncovered parts of your body, especially your hands and face, when taking photos.

Winter Rental Clothes are available upon request.
